The Cost of LED Outdoor Light Bulbs
If you are in charge of the energy costs at your business or home, you are probably groaning whenever the electricity bill arrives. If keeping the outside of your place illuminated is important, though expensive, you may want to consider LED outdoor light bulbs to replace the wattage-sucking fluorescent flood lights that put your monthly statement well into the hundreds.
Many people still associate light-emitting diodes with fancy televisions that fill up entire walls, but the reality is the technology is starting to be deployed in a number of consumer products, the biggest being lighting solutions. It is infinitely more efficient than previous standards, and it provides a much more well-lit area than anything offered by an old bulb you could buy at the hardware store.
A few considerations before making the full transformation, however, are the differences in appearance and the overall investment versus cost ratios. Many curious buyers are turned off by the high price of LED bulbs out of the box. While it’s true they can be twice as much as traditional units, they end up saving you hundreds, if not thousands, in electricity costs over the course of just a few years.
Another common complaint about LED lighting is that is hardly replicates the traditional solutions it is seeking to make obsolete. Most traditional lighting sources, such as a lamp or ceiling fan fixture, creates what is called ‘pointed’ or directional light, much like shining a flashlight. LED, on the other hand, distributes more evenly, and may take some time for people to adjust to.
